Six years ago, we started working on a new project that piqued our curiosity. It was something we hadn’t done before, so our entire team was excited to try something “else.” World Class Romania needed software to help them manage members, group fitness classes, and personal trainers. And this is how we wrote the very first lines of code for UPfit.cloud.
Since then, six years have passed. Throughout this time, we had the opportunity to discover and learn about a market that was developing alongside us. I’ll admit that our team was not the most athletic in the world (we still aren’t), and we loved backpacking rather than going to a Body Combat class. However, we learned immensely about what a fitness center really entails, apart from equipment and classes, and the massive potential of this business.
In all this time, we had the honor to work with many clubs and gyms in Romania and abroad, and we learned something from every single one. We’d like to think that they have learned something from us as well. We partnered with gyms that opened alongside us, and with established clubs that used our features to create an incredible community.
My favorite part of UPfit.cloud is seeing how each client uses our software to build something unique for their members. This was one of the greatest lessons I got throughout this journey. Each fitness club is different, but they all have the same mission at the end of the day – to create a space for leisure, motivation, and socializing.
This year has been a difficult one for the fitness sector, and we also felt the impact of the pandemic and the lockdown. We still can’t say that the worst is over, but I am optimistic because things are starting to calm down, and slowly but surely, we’ll get back on the track we were at the beginning of the year.
Despite all this, the last few months have confirmed what I learned daily since we launched UPfit.cloud – tech and digitization are essential for this sector. Gyms are a socializing place, where you must focus on human interaction. That doesn’t mean that tech has no place here. On the contrary, digital solutions help gyms save precious time that can be given to members.
That is why we are just as excited about this industry now as we were six years ago because we have loads of plans and ideas to help gyms in Romania transform this emerging market into one of the most successful in Europe.
This pandemic has driven home our belief that gyms play an essential role in the community – not just a place for socializing, but also as a place where people regain their physical and mental health, which is so important right now.
Therefore, on Friday, we are celebrating this great milestone (keeping our social distance, of course), and then we’ll get back to work. We have many exciting ideas and plans that we cannot wait to put them into practice.
And because this anniversary deserves to be celebrated properly, UPfit.cloud is about to receive new clothes. During the next few weeks, our clients will see a new design for our software, more handsome and fashionable (at least in our opinion). With the new design, UPfit.cloud will have a brand-new Dashboard with new features that analyze the club’s data, form revenue to member status, and it will be able to predict the club’s future evolution. Therefore, we are launching our first Business Intelligence features that we are convinced will provide useful insight for managers and owners.
Finally, I’d like to thank all our partners and collaborators that have been with us on this fantastic journey, for better and for worse. We hope to transform these partnerships into something extraordinary!
